COBIA: CAPE-OPEN Object Model
A new object model, the CAPE-OPEN Binary Interop Architecture (COBIA), has been proposed as a next step in the evolution of CAPE-OPEN. COBIA will include registration components, binary interoperability standards, and middleware that acts as a bridge between software components. Development of COBIA involves a number of tasks, grouped in phases, which can be performed incrementally. This memo is intended to describe these tasks, and provide an overview of the implementation process.

Flowsheet Monitoring
Flowsheet Monitoring is the ability to access all elements in a flowsheet without interfering with the flowsheet. Flowsheet Monitoring Components are software components that can be plugged into a flowsheet and have access to all thermodynamic property calculation methods, all Streams and all Unit Operations.

Reporting Common interface
The M&T Special Interest Group is considering developing a new Common Interface specification so that any Process Modelling Component could be asked by a Process Modelling Environment to create a report and hand it over to the PME.
